After the Court issuing an order declaring the nurses strike as illegal, the no nonsense Kenya National Union of Nurses Secretary General Seth Panyako ignored. Then came President Uhuru Kenyatta, who ordered that all nurses were to report to work, failure to which they risked sacking, but panyako still defied the orders!
However, the KNUN boss has told the court that the countrywide nurses’ strike has been called off.
He was in court on Tuesday to show cause why he should not be held in contempt for disobeying orders stopping the strike.
Panyako told Justice Nelson Abuodha that the strike was called off and further defended himself alleging that he was never served with the court papers.
The judge cautioned him not to disobey court orders in future.
The court has discharged all KNUN officials from the contempt since the strike has been called off
However, addressing the court moments after, Panyako told the media that he was not the one in particular who called off the strike.
