It is not long ago that we saw Deputy President William Ruto’s wife Rachel Ruto clad in the school uniform of the famous Butere Girls High School.
Mama Rachel, as the DP’s wife is fondly referred to, is an alumnus of the giant school based in Kakamega and allure of wearing the maroon uniform was just nostalgic.

But it has now emerged that the school’s principal is using her connections with mama Rachel to run the school with impunity.
The school was in the news for all the wrong reasons last week after a form three student committed suicide over what has been termed as fear of being suspended.
It has since emerged that Mrs Jenniffer Omondi, the Principal may not have been in school when the incident happened. She is rarely at school out looking for development funds from Rachael with claims that part of the money is being embezzled.
For now, word has it that a group of teachers commonly referred to as the Giant Five are the ones running the institution as the principal cuts deals. The five teachers are said to threaten students with suspension.
