The Kenya Revenue Authority has arrested four people connected to a tax-evasion syndicate.
According to the tax agency’s Senior Assistant Commissioner Edward Karanja, the four were arrested Sunday after KRA received intelligence on a suspected ethanol consignment which had been concealed as packaging material.
Karanja who spoke at Platinum Distillers Limited said KRA may have lost at least Sh14 million in taxes adding that an investigation had be launched.
He said the distiller will remain closed for a week awaiting the outcome of laboratory results.
