How the Late Nderitu Gachagua’s Family Plans to Honour Him

Death they say comes like a thief. Nobody knows the time death will strike at their doorstep and for this we are all always caught unawares.

On February 24, 2017, Nyeri County was drowned in mourning after it’s first governor Nderitu Gachagua left to go and be with his maker.

The then County Chief succumbed to Cancer while undergoing treatment at a London Hospital. He was 64 years then.

Fast foward, his family has still kept fond memories of him and it is for this reason that they plan to honour him in the best way possible.

Gachagua’s family will conduct a free cancer screening after organizing a fre medical camp at Railways Grounds in Karatina to mark his second anniversary.

The organised free medical camp will be for screening prostate, breast and cervical cancer, the family said in an advert on Friday.

Other diseases such as hypertension, heart diseases, diabetes, eye-checkups and general ailments will also be treated during the camp.

The family said the camp will be open by 6 am and his memorial service be held at 1 pm on the same ground.

“In your lifetime, you worked with the weak to give them strength, the downtrodden to uplift them, the impoverished to make them flourish and with the same spirit we organise the medical camp,” the family said.
