Everton dealt potential blow as Chelsea handed transfer window ban

Everton have been dealt a potential blow in their hopes of signing Kurt Zouma after Chelsea were handed a transfer ban.

The Stamford Bridge side have been forbidden from signing players for the next two transfer windows and fined 600,000 Swiss francs for breaching rules in relation to young players.

The ban does not prevent the release of players, and won’t affect the club’s women’s and futsal sides – while Chelsea have been given three days to appeal the decision.

The ban comes after an investigation into the West London side’s signing of foreign under-18 players.

However, this could potentially have an affect of Everton’s transfer business in the future.

The ECHO understands the Blues were planning to test Chelsea’s resolve in the summer over potentially signing Zouma  on a permanent basis after impressing across his loan spell so far.

Marco Silva told the ECHO: “But I am really happy with him, he is improving, trying, he is a good professional, he is happy in our club, he is a good team-mate and a really important player.

“Let’s see what we can do or not in the future.

“But it’s also about his opinion, about his future. But we are really happy with him.”

However, with Chelsea now banned from bringing new additions into the squad, it could potentially affect any Everton hopes of bringing the defender to Goodison Park on a permanent basis.
