Two Weeks for Governor Sonko to Respond To Defamation Suit

Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko is yet to respond to a defamation suit filed by Nairobi businessman Mike Maina Kamau.

Lawyer Harrison Kinyanjui asked the court for more time to respond to the suit saying the governor was away on official duties and had not signed the replying affidavits.

The court has however given the Governor 14 days to respond to the allegations against him in the defamation.

The businessman has accused the governor of interfering with his repossession of the 20-acre plot in Nairobi’s Kayole Estate despite a valid eviction order.

Kamau through his company Muthithi Investments Ltd also accuses Governor Sonko of releasing a recording of their phone conversation in which he insulted him thereby initiating social media attacks which damaged his reputation and image.

Justice Msagha Mbogholi directed that the matter will be mentioned on March 12 to confirm compliance.
