Three coaches Chelsea board is discussing to edge out Sarri

The Italian is clinging onto his job with the club increasingly concerned by results in 2019.

Heavy Premier League defeats away to Bournemouth and Manchester City in recent weeks have seen Chelsea drop to sixth in the table.

And Monday’s 2-0 FA Cup loss at home to Manchester United saw fans make their feelings known.

Many were heard chanting ‘f*** Sarriball’ as they turned on the manager, who made some more questionable decisions during the tie.

Chelsea’s football has been far less effective of late compared to the first few months under Sarri’s regime.

The Blues went unbeaten in all competitions for more than three months before results began to take a turn.

Assistant Zola was absent at Stamford Bridge on Monday night due to illness.

And the Chelsea legend could ultimately become caretaker boss until the end of the season if Sarri is axed.

The club are currently preparing for tomorrow’s Europa League visit from Malmo and Sunday’s Carabao Cup final with City at Wembley.

But the managerial situation is being discussed by the board as Sarri sorts his team for the weekend.

According to Sky Sports, ex-Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane and Derby boss Frank Lampard have been identified as potential successors to Sarri.

Zidane remains out of work since clinching his third successive Champions League title with Real last season.

Chelsea hero Lampard, meanwhile, has impressed in his first managerial role with Derby in the Championship.

Chelsea chiefs are said to be very concerned with the current state of the side under Sarri.

Their season is falling apart and Champions League qualification, via either the Premier League top four or Europa League, is up in the air.

The board are aware of the discontent among fans, especially from what they saw in the United game this week.

And Sky Sports add they are considering appointing Zola as caretaker if they decide to part company with Sarri, who only replaced Antonio Conte last summer.
