Raping or any Sexual assault whatsoever is wrong. Paying evil with another evil is worse. On Tuesday, a gang of four men hacked a woman to death, injured her husband and raped their three granddaughters in Litein, Kericho county. The family’s domestic worker was also raped in the incident. Isiolo woman representative Rehema Jaldesa has proposed severe punishment to sexual offenders who will be found guilty including castration to discourage the vice from the community.
“I have proposed amendments to section 43 of the Sexual Offences Act to replace the 10-year jail term of offenders. It makes no sense to hand a rapist a 10-year sentence when he has already messed up the entire life of an innocent woman or girl,” Jaldesa said.
According to the Act, a person guilty of an offence under this section is liable upon conviction to imprisonment for a term which shall not be less than 10 years but which may be enhanced to imprisonment for life.
Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi has also suggested for amendment of the Act after an uprise in teenage pregnancies in Kilifi county.
