Life is short and its challenging to know that the best we can do is leave an extraordinary legacy when our time runs out eventually.
Many indeed turned out for the memorial service of loved and respected in the game Dandora activist Caroline Mwatha at Uhuru Park’s Freedom Corner.
The deceased’s father, Justus Mbai, praised her daughter’s efforts in fighting for the rights of young people especially from the slums. He, however, alluded to foul play in her death dismissing claims that Ms. Mwatha died as result of a botched abortion.
Speaking at the memorial service, ex- Chief Justice Willy Mutunga also rubbished the botched abortion narrative, further faulting the manner in which police conduct investigations in Kenya.
An autopsy confirmed that activist Caroline Mwatha was pregnant and died due to internal and external bleeding while procuring an abortion.
This followed a postmortem examination by Government Pathologist Johansen Oduor and Dr Peter Muriuki who was hired for the family by the Independent Medico Legal Unit.
