Mombasa County initiates plans for a Sustainable Travel and Tourism Conference

Mombasa County has announced they have initiated plans to host a conference on Sustainable Travel and Tourism this coming May.

This announcement was made by the CEC in charge of trade and tourism in the county Mr Rashid through his official twitter handle.

Mr Rashid said that he today met with Sustainable Travel and Tourism Agenda team when they called on him at his office.

He also shared the intention of the county government in line to the conference.

The County aspires to bring into Mombasa over 200 delegates from across Africa.

“Tourism is the largest and fastest growing segment of the modern tourism sector thus it’s our commitment to boost Mombasa’s popularity as one of the best tourist destinations in Africa and beyond. ” he stated

Last month, Mombasa hosted a tourism symposium which brought
National & County governments, hotel owners, investors, business leaders, experts in various distinct fields to brainstorm on how to rebrand & repackage the beach products.

The tourism CS said that tourism being a competitive space, people should stop pointing fingers and address the challenges by providing solutions.

“If we are committed and focused – in the Kenyan style of being champions like the marathoners – we will be able to overcome these challenges quickly” he said
