Nairobi Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko attended the United Nations General Assembly conference that was held on February 19, 2019, at the UN Headquarters in New York, United States.
The event was organized jointly by the office of the President of the 73rd Session of the UN General Assembly and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations.
The office of the President of the 73rd session of General Assembly, Maria Fernanda Espinosa Garces, had stated that the purpose of the event was to address global challenges from a local perspective.
Sonko had an opportunity to address delegates on the roles of cities in the global agenda.
The theme of that conference being; “From Global Issues to Local Priorities: The Role of Cities in Global Agenda, Including Cities for Sustainable Development, Food Security, Nutrition and Climate Change.”
Sonko gave his clear concise speech on the same while sharing some insights on how to tackle global challenges from local setting. He took the meeting in New York by storm with his polished accent and super speech with great content.
