‘Its a lie’..DPP Haji responds to 2 million theft allegations

Earlier on a businessman facing money laundering charges in Mombasa accused Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) Noordin Haji of threatening him with a gun and stealing Sh2 million from him during a raid at Reef Hotel two years ago.

Well the director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Noordin Haji on Tuesday responded to claims that he stole from the business man.

The DPP has dismissed the allegations explaining that he, together with other officers, had recovered more than Ksh18.5 million drug money from Mangira, in cash, during a raid at Reef Hotel which occurred two years ago.

“That is a lie…he should be asked what he was doing with Ksh18.5 million, we recovered (it) from him in cash.

“He is saying that people stole Ksh2 million from him including me, what was recovered was Ksh18.5 million and it is there,” explained the DPP.

The accused wants the high to order the state to produce the Sh18.5 million and demonstrate how it managed to count the money in less than one hour on February 11, 2017, without currency or money counting machine
