Mourinho aims accidental dig at himself over Utd question

Jose Mourinho has admitted that “it’s hard for me to watch Manchester United” – which is pretty much how fans felt when he was manager.

Mourinho was sacked by United in December with the club sixth in the Premier League and 11 points off fourth.

They have closed that considerable gap in just nine games and are now fourth under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, albeit having suffered a blow in their Champions League last-16 tie.

PSG beat United 2-0 at Old Trafford last week to put one foot in the quarter-finals, with Solskjaer’s side now needing to overturn that deficit with an emphatic win in the second leg in France.

Mourinho says he did not watch the first as he “knows every player” in the Premier League already.

“No, I didn’t watch it,” he told beIN SPORTS.

“It’s hard for me to watch Manchester United. I watch them from time to time, but I prefer to watch other leagues.

“The Premier League, I know every player in it.”

When asked if he could see himself managing in the French top flight, Mourinho added: “I can imagine myself as a coach in Ligue Un.

“I am a man who has worked in four different countries, I like to know and learn other cultures. Working in a new championship would be a fantastic experience.

“For now I’m calm, I try to live better with my family and friends and I work to get the right opportunity to go back to training.

“Two to three months [without a job] is okay, afterwards it’s more difficult. I hope to have the opportunity to come back stronger.

“My project is my project as a person and coach, to improve myself, to be better, to think all days about my profession, which is also a passion.

“But this is not the time to talk with clubs.”
