Kenya’s diplomatic ties with the war tone country Somalia seems to be at a tiff following Saturdays decision by the Nairobi government to call back their Ambassador to Somalia and indefinite suspension of Somalia’s envoy to Kenya.
The bone of contention Nairobi accused Mogadishu of auctioning oil exploration rights for a disputed part of the Indian Ocean which dispute is yet to be resolved in an international court.
FYI For the record we did not “recall” our Ambassador nor “expel” Somalia’s . We summoned ours for consultations and asked that theirs departs for consultations on their side so that we can resolve this matter with credible and correct information from both sides.

However, the tiff began in August 2014 when Somalia sued Kenya at the International Court of Justice at The Hague, Netherlands, for unlawful operations in her maritime territory.
The disputed water in question is a triangular patch created by projecting the Kenya-Somali border eastwards. It measures 100,000 square kilometres.
Kenya expects Somalia to meet the 3 conditions in order to restore diplomatic relations. @TheVillaSomalia will not publicly accep tthe conditions b/c fear of public backlash, but will secretly agree to them. And then we will see Kenya announcing restoration of ties with Somalia. https://t.co/fNeBCAkR9Z

Somalia wants the ICJ to define the boundary as laid down by the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea and other international sea laws.
However, Somali has since accused Kenya of action out of emotions on issues waiting jurisdiction or even a possible dialogue claims Kenya’s Principal Secretary to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ambassador Macharia Kamau has dismissed saying the action was taken to allow the two sides make consultations.
