Fear As Transport and Business Crippled by Pokot-Turkana Clashes in Kainuk

Business and transport avenues along the Lodwar-Kitale highway were crippled after a massive attack at Kainuk by Lodwar bandits

The bandits that attacked the region resulted in the death of three individuals, as well as causing several injuries to residents in the region.

According to Kainuk area chief, Mrs Sarah Lochodo, the area has been under the attack of the said bandits since last week.

On Saturday morning, tensions escalated when the said Pokot bandits attacked a police officer and shot him.

He was attached to the Kainuk anti-stock theft unit.

According to Lochodo, three police officers and a young boy who was in a canter transporting goods were shot dead on Saturday while travelling from Kitale to Lodwar.

Additionally, a 12-year-old child was also one of the unfortunate victims of the attack that happened mid-morning and resulted in ten of goats being herded away by the Pokot bandits.

Sadly, the series of attacks have resulted in a halt in business and transport in the region.
