Why Wajir County might hold gubernatorial by-elections despite Supreme Court’s ruling

The Supreme Court on Thursday upheld the election of Governor Mohamed Abdi of Wajir County, but is he safe in office? His opponent’s lawyers have vowed to remove him from office.

Lawyer Ahmednassir Abdullahi argues that Governor Abdi is in office illegally. Through his official twitter account, Ahmednassir vows to go back to Court with his team to remove the Governor from the office.

According to the Lawyer, the Supreme Court declared that his university degree “was a pre election dispute” and the High Court had no jurisdiction on that issue.

The senior Counsel maintains that the judgment of the High Court that found on 8 GROUNDS that the election for WAJIR governor was unlawful and irregular remains UNDISPUTED and undisturbed.

“The 8 grounds. So the judgment of the High Court that found on 8 GROUNDS that the election for WAJIR governor was unlawful and irregular remains UNDISPUTED and undisturbed…you haven’t heard the last from us!!!”

He further gives an assurance that the good people of WAJIR will have a bye election to elect their GOVERNOR.
