Atwoli Comes to the rescue of striking nurses

COTU Secretary General Francis Atwoli has accused Labour CS Ukur Yatani of misleading the President into threatening to sack striking nurses.

Atwoli has now offered to mediate between the nurses and the Government to help end the impasse that threatens to paralyze the health sector.

The COTU boss says he has partnered with Tom Mboya Labor College to craft a mechanism that will aid Governors and elected leaders at the County level to understand labor relations with the aim of reducing labor related frictions.

This even as striking nurses remained defiant maintaining that the work boycott will continue until their demands are met. Nurses in West Pokot, Embu and Kisii are still on strike despite the directive.

In Homabay, County’s Medical Practitioners and Dentists Union (KMPDU) officials declared they have joined the ongoing nurses’ strike saying they will not be intimidated.
