ERC Lowers Fuel Prices In A One Month Review

The Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) has once today reduced the maximum pump fuel prices following a continued free fall of fuel prices at international markets during their mid-month review.

The Regulatory announced there today Thursday that will see prices of fuel go, the price of super Petrol drops by Ksh 4.12 and will go for a retail price of Ksh100.09 in Nairobi, motorists using diesel will reap big by paying Ksh95.96 less y Ksh6.28 a litre in Nairobi, low income households who have been buying Kerosene at Ksh101.78 will now buy it at Ks96.50 saving Ksh5.28 per litre respectively.

The Energy Regulatory Commission during the review however attributed the changes to global market change, “The changes in this month’s prices are as a consequence of the average landed cost of imported Super Petrol decreasing by 7.23% from US$590.92 per ton in December 2018 to US$548.20 per ton in January 2019,” reads a statement from the ERC.

The prices for other towns across the country were announced in the one month review.

On a notable point, the new prices will run from 14th February midnight to 14th March midnight this year when the regulator will announce the next review.
