A day in politics is surely a long long time. In the run up to the infamous 2017 elections, both Nasa and Jubilee side were worst of enemies but that has since changed after the much talked March 9 “handshake” between President Kenyatta and Raila Odinga.

To this effect, Kalonzo Musyoka has been involved in controversial comments involving the presidents with some seen to over praise the latter in a bid to win favor.

While speaking during an interview on Citizen TV on Tuesday, Kalonzo, praised Uhuru as the best president and indicated how much he admired him.

“Uhuru is the best president and I admire what he is doing and thus he must be supported. If he leads his Jubilee troops to the 2022 contest and his party clinches the majority of seats, then whoever wins as president must appoint him as prime minister,” Kalonzo said.

Earlier, he was heard, in a public event, to allude to a possibility of Uhuru ruling beyond his term limit which ends in 2022. Watch the clip below as reported by Citizen TV.

He however defended himself by saying, “I am a very outstanding constitutional lawyer who does not advocate for an extension of the presidential term and this goes down to governors.”

“In my opinion, I am looking at a 2022 post-election in a situation where we need to maintain a government of national unity. You cannot just write away Uhuru,” he added.

“Uhuru might want to retire but Kenyans want him to proceed. If he is not interested he can then nominate someone if he so wishes,” he said.

The Wiper Leader had also indicated, during his father’s burial, that no one should separate him from Uhuru and that anyone who dared would face his wrath.

While trying to shed the ‘watermelon’ tag, Kalonzo said, “I have taken time to reflect on this tagging and I think Kenyans have wrongfully profiled me. I have always acted in the best interest of this country.”
