The National Assembly resumes sittings today amidst hundreds of agendas to handle one being the process of seeking a replacement for Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet whose four-year term comes to an end in March, being part of the agenda.

According to National Assembly Majority Leader Aden Duale, finding a suitable successor for Boinnet is among a long list of items that the House will give priority.

Before this happens however, the House will consider nominees to serve as members of the National Police Service Commission (NPSC).

Once it is re-constituted, the body will call for suitable members to apply for the position of the Inspector General of Police.

Among those poised to replace Boinnet are Edward Njoroge Mbugua, the Deputy Inspector General of police in charge of the police and Noor Gabbow, the head of Administration Police.

There is intense lobbying for either Mbugua or Gabbow to succeed Boinnet since both were appointed to their positions last year after the firing of Joel Kitili (Deputy IG in charge of police) and Samuel Arachi (Deputy IG in charge of AP).Image result for joseph boinnet replacement

The commission will then submit the name of the preferred candidate to President Uhuru Kenyatta who will in turn send it back to Parliament for consideration.

Differently, the National Super Alliance will in the meantime seek to replace Vihiga MP Omboko Milemba with Nominated MP Godfrey Osotsi in the House Business Committee.

The change affecting the duo who belong to Musalia Mudavadi’s Amani National Congress is the only one that has been highlighted in Tuesday’s Order Paper to the team mandated to set the daily agenda for the House when it is in session.

The Jubilee Party will also be seeking to have the term of its nominees Amos Kimunya, Joyce Akai Emanikor, Shadrack John Mose, Kawira Mwangaza extended as the MPs begin the Third Session of the 12th Parliament.

ODM and Wiper have also re-submitted the names Mishi Mboko and Makali Mulu to represent them on the Committee.
