Why missing Dandora woman with 300k reward is so important

Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has offered a Sh300,000 cash reward for anyone with information on missing human rights activist Caroline Mwatha.

According to Executive Director of Amnesty International Kenya ,Irũngũ Houghton, Caroline Mwatha not only responded to sex trafficking, sexual violence, unlawful police killings, joblessness, hopeless and anger but also was involved in the organizations(Dandora community social justice center)  activities such as planting trees along Mathare river, establishing business and breaking down ethnic divisions.

Sonko has appealed to anyone with details to contact the nearest police station or the Directorate of Criminal Investigations.
Further, seven civic organisations will hold a night vigil on Monday evening from 4-9pm in honor of the missing Dandora human rights defender.
Amnesty International Executive Director Irungu Houghton is quoted saying that it was about time State comes up with deliberate and specific policies that implement the United Nations Declaration on Human Rights Defenders and to recognise, work with and protect human rights activists in Kenya.

Caroline disappeared on Wednesday last week.
She is believed to have been documenting cases of enforced disappearance and extrajudicial killings, including the murder of six Dandora residents in October last year.
