Gor star scorer to miss Petro Atletico match

Gor Mahia will play without their top scorer Jacques Tuyisenge in the Caf Confederation Cup for their second group “D” match against Petro Atletico of Angola in Luanda on Wednesday.

This comes after Tuyisenge, who scored and provided two assists in the 4-2 win over Zamalek, is suspended due to a pile up of yellow cards. Dependable right back Philemon Otieno is also out of this game on similar grounds. The pair were noticeably missing in coach Hassan Oktay’s travelling squad with the team expected to depart on Tuesday 11.30am.

In the absence of the Rwandese marksman, Oktay will play former Harambee Stars skipper Dennis Oliech and Wellington Ochieng  despite both players missing the 2-0 Mashemeji Derby win over AFC Leopards on Sunday due to illness and injury.

Gor Mahia Captain Harun Shakava and Joash Onyango will be back in the field after completion of CAF’S suspension. Interestingly, Ernest Wendo has also been left out despite featuring in the Mashemeji Derby on Saturday. Bernard Ondiek has been favoured over the burly midfielder.

Meanwhile, Oktay believes the win against AFC Leopards on Saturday was a huge motivation for his players ahead of the tie in Angola. Looking back at the derby meanwhile, Oktay was pleased with the result but the high-demanding coach believes they should have won by a bigger margin.

The victory saw K’Ogalo move to second in the standings with 22 points, just three shy of early pace setters Mathare United.

Gor leave the country for Angola on Tuesday morning.
