Despite the humiliation at Man City, Chelsea fans are happy with one defender. Here’s why(Video)

Rudiger went over to the Chelsea fans at full-time

Chelsea fans are still reeling from their biggest ever Premier League defeat yesterday as Manchester City tore them apart, rogering them 6-0 at the Etihad. The Chelsea defenders rightly came in for a whole heap of criticism from fans and pundits alike, but at full-time only one man stood up for himself and apologised.

German international Antonio Rudiger went over to the traveling fans at full-time as his teammates trudged down the tunnel and was greeted by a barrage of abuse from the Chelsea fans, who had witnessed a shocking display against the champions.

Rudiger said to one of the fans: “I’ve come over to say sorry – stand in front of me if you‘ve something to say.”

The fan then retreated but Rudiger’s reaction to the loss was praised by many fans on social media.

“‘I didn’t feel one way or another about Rudiger before yesterday. Before halftime, he was pissed. He was mad in a way that you could easily see it. He played the entire 90 minutes like he gave a shit and I’m shocked he didn’t get sent off. With that, good on you mate.”  @JoshBusby9

“Convinced Rudiger is the only player in the squad that actually cares” @Sidetthcfc

“Stop hating on Rudi. Only captain material player today. Could’ve been more if it weren’t for him.” @Clarxdge

It was noticed that one Chelsea fan, in his rage, threw his season ticket onto the Etihad pitch, as Rudiger came over to talk to the fans. It was picked up by a steward, as you can see in the picture below.

That loss dropped Chelsea down to sixth position and Maurizio Sarri is now the favourite in the Sack Race. The Blues’ side is looking incredibly disjointed and looked completely out of their depth against City at the weekend.

You can see Rudiger’s reaction down below.
