Chelsea Boss Maurizio Sarri Must Bring In These TWO Players To Starting XI

Serie A expert Gabriele Marcotti, speaking in an interview, has suggested that personnel changes for Chelsea can still save a currently flawed philosophy.

The Blues have not enjoyed promising fortunes of late – culminating in a 6-0 demolition by title-chasing Manchester City on Sunday afternoon.

Chelsea looked bereft of ideas with players either lacking motivation or the clarity of what their coach demands from them.

However, the west London outfit do have the players to turn it around and, such is the quality they possess, not many alterations are necessary.

“I think (Andreas) Christensen should be given far more of an opportunity” Gabriele Marcotti.

Marcotti has suggested some changes in defence – both in personnel and tactically – can bring about an upturn in results.

Wing-back Marcos Alonso thrived and was crucial to Antonio Conte’s 3-4-3 system but has not been able to adapt to Sarri’s methods and struggled for form.
Emerson is an able deputy and the Chelsea coach was adamant he was not for sale during the January transfer window.

Despite that he has started just the one league game whilst fellow defender Andreas Christensen, who is highly thought of, has featured just twice despite Chelsea’s defence clearly leaking goals.

Marcotti said: “I think (Marcos) Alonso is a problem – I’d like to see Emerson get a run in the team. Not that he’s any great shakes.

“I think (Andreas) Christensen should be given far more of an opportunity. Those two are the key element.

“But most importantly you can’t have stupid defensive mistakes which cost them that game (losing 6-0 to Manchester City).

“I think that’s something they need to work on more on the training pitch and figure out how to get the message across to the players.”

Their humiliating defeat in Manchester has dropped the Blues down to sixth – below city rivals Arsenal on goals scored.

Chelsea fans have endured the full spectrum of emotions across the last four seasons having won two league titles but also finishing outside the top four twice.
