1 civilian, 2 police officers injured after youth fight over bhang

Two police officers and a civilian are nursing injuries after a fight ensued between them and youth in Makuria area in Embu North.

The police officers found the youth uprooting the cannabis plant and started shooting, engaging them in running battles.

In the commotion, one man was shot and the two police officers injured.

Embu Level Five hospital

The man was taken to Embu Level Five hospital with a bullet in his leg while the police officers were treated and released.

The County Commissioner Abdullahi Galgalo stated two people were arrested in connection with the matter and will be arraigned in court when investigations are complete. He also warned the youth against obstructing police officers who were doing their job.

This comes a month after police in Makueni confiscated marijuana worth Ksh3 million in Emali. They found 6,180 rolls of the marijuana stuffed in sacks of a private car. The occupants had abandoned it when they realised police officers were following them.

Makueni police commander Joseph Naipeyan stated they had collected a mobile phone from the car and would use it, alongside the registration details, to track the occupants.

The vehicle was towed to Emali police station yard and samples taken to a Government chemist for testing.
