Here is why DP Ruto’s staff hasn’t received their monthly allowances for 5 months

If you have been keen, you would have noticed Deputy President William Ruto’s trips reduction across the country. What do you think might be the cause of this? Is the Dr Fred Matiangi’s latest appointment? Well, Ruto’s staff are yet to yet to be paid their monthly allowances since August due to budget cuts that have hit his office.

Members of his security detail, drivers and press team are among those yet to receive per diem for the past five months.

According to Sunday Nation, the delay in payment is due to acute budget cuts, with fingers pointed at Ruto’s detractors.

The budget for the DP’s office is in the hands of State House Comptroller Kinuthia Mbugua.

The last per diem to be paid to staff who travel with Ruto was when he visited Marsabit County on August 31, last year.

According to a high-placed source, the government owes staff in the office between Ksh200,000 to Ksh1.2 million each, according to one’s job group.

The new development has led to scaling down of Dr Ruto’s tours across the country.

He have also been forced to cut down on the delegations to his Karen home.

However, Ruto’s spokesman David Mugonyi refuted they were any budgetary constraints.

“Those are lies, total lies. It is not true at all,” Mugonyi mentioned when asked about the unpaid dues.
