The unbelievable Premier League record Everton’s Lucas Digne holds

Every football fan loves a worldie.

That could be classed as anything from when a player makes a last-ditch tackle, a diving fingertip penalty save, puts over a sensational cross or scores from 30 yards.

Everton’s Lucas Digne can do all of the above and has proved that time and again for the Blues, minus making saves because that would be punished.

The left-back has made an incredible case for being the most important and best signing of last summer for manager Marco Silva.

The Frenchman only took three matches to be handed his chance, and impressed so much in a League Cup win over Rotherham earlier this season that he kept his place in the side.

Lucas Digne scores their second goal to make it 2-2 during the match between Everton and Watford

Defensively he’s brilliant and going forward without doubt the defender does more than you could expect by providing Everton with world-class goals for one.

Digne’s first goal for the Blues came via a beautifully curled free-kick in the 96th minute to draw his side level in a 2-2 draw with Watford.

The second was to put the Toffees 2-0 up against Burnley – a goal which put Silva’s side in the driving seat for the match ahead.

Gylfi Sigurdsson was stood over that free-kick, and the angle preferred a right-footed taker, but Digne showed immense confidence to take it on himself and make no mistake.

His third goal was from open play and, arguably, was even more impressive than the free-kicks.

After a corner was cleared only as far as Bernard, the Brazilian laid the ball off to the French international who rasped a brilliant low drive straight into the bottom corner of Joe Hart’s net in the match against the Clarets.

Again, what was so apparent is the confidence that flowed through him when he struck – the ball was in from the moment he was running onto it, let alone the moment it left his foot.

What you will notice about all of those goals is that they have all been scored from outside the box.

Incredibly Digne has scored more goals from outside of the penalty area than any other player in the Premier League so far this season with only Tottenham’s Christian Eriksen and Son Heung-Min plus Henrikh Mkhitaryan of Arsenal being able to boast three goals from outside of the box.
