Super VC Olive Mugenda now at Daystar

Prolific academic Olive Mwihaki Mugenda was on Tuesday announced as part of Daystar University’s council.

Well known for her work in transforming Kenyatta University (KU) through infrastructure development, expanding staff enrollment and introducing pragmatic programmes, she turned the varsity into an entrepreneurial, research and innovative institution.

The immediate former KU Vice Chancellor has been appointed to Daystar in its administration’s overhaul after a series of boycotts that took place last year.

Daystar has appointed new council members, as it is still in search of a new Vice Chancellor.

Corruption, mismanagement and poor facilities were among the grievances by Daystar students who went on protests last year- a first for the Christian institution.

Olive Mugenda is on the other hand a commendable fit for Daystar due to her prowess in leadership an education.

She is a recipient of the Elder Burning Spear (EBS), and Chief of the Order of the Burning Spear (CBS) presidential awards. She is moreover a member of the steering committee for the Young African Leadership Initiative (YALI), a Commissioner of the Judicial Service Commission and founded the Center for Innovative Leadership and Governance (CLIG) with the aim of empowering university leaders to be transformational.
