The 23-year-old missed out on a dream move to French giants Paris Saint-Germain in January but he still has his dream girl by his side, Sarah Richmond and they’ve been together since 2011, when the pair were just 16.

Weigl, who is currently considered as one of the best young midfielder in world football met Sarah while he was still working his way up in the youth team of 1860 Munich and she has remained a constant in his life ever since.

According to the SunUK, It is not clear exactly where they met, but Sarah was brought up in Munich by her German mother and American father.

The couple are famously guarded about their private life, sharing little with the German media. But Sarah moved with Weigl when he left 1860 for Borussia Dortmund and the couple have been devoted to each other ever since. They even have a dog, Mason.

Sarah studied radio and TV journalism in Dortmund and now works for a local radio station, KiRaKa, which caters for a young audience.

She also had her own website where she revealed he interest in architecture and interior design. Sarah was in the German news at the end of last year after she and several of her fellow Dortmund wags arranged a special boot sale.

Marco Reus’ girlfriend Scarlett Gartmann, Manuel Akanjie’s mrs Melanie Windler, Marcel Schmelzer’s wife Jenny and Mario Gotze’s wife Anne-Kathrin were also involved.

The group rented out a conference room at the Dorint Hotel, bringing along their unwanted designer clothes to sell to locals – with all the proceeds going to charity.

The event was a massive hit, with people queueing around the block to have a look at the items on sale. Weigl and Sarah are frequent travellers who spend a lot of time in the US visiting her dad.

They travelled to Dubai during the Bundesliga winter break, with Weigl describing Sarah as “my rock” in one touching photo
