Marcus Rashford’s stellar season to see him rewarded in the best possible manner!

Few tunes are being bellowed out as enthusiastically in the Premier League as the catchy ditty Manchester United fans have appropriated to the tune of The Stone Roses ‘Waterfall’.

“Marcus Rashford is Manc born and bred!” is the crescendo of the chant which epitomises the happiness Red Devils are currently feeling under the guidance of interim manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, which has been further buoyed by the recent news that fan favourite Anthony Martial has put pen to paper to commit his future at the club.

And that rainbow soaring over Old Trafford is only getting brighter as the Frenchman’s attacking partner Rashford is set to follow his lead and continue to front the Old Trafford line into the future.

The Telegraph reports that the 21-year-old is now ‘in talks’ to sign a new contract at his boyhood club.

Rashford is out of contract at the end of next season having not received a renewal since signing his first professional contract back in summer 2016. United have an option to extend that by 12 months to June 2021, but currently negotiations are being proposed for the striker top have his wages more than doubled to more than £150,000 a week with bonuses, and his recent form certainly warrants it.

Since being deployed at the centre of attack, and alongside the left-sided Martial – a formation that was almost absent during Jose Mourinho’s tenure – Rashford has scored six goals and provided two assists in the league, across eight games.

Since breaking through to the first-team squad under Louis van Gaal, the Wythenshawe-born lad has a return of 42 goals in 153 appearances, and this week became the second youngest Man Utd star to reach 100 Premier League appearances.
