Joho has escalated the feud between him and the deputy president Dr. William Ruto by accusing him of sending proxies to attack him and mudslide his name. He blames Ruto for sponsoring allegations against drug trafficking through his subjects.
The “subjects” are believed to be Nandi Governor Stephen Sang and MPs Oscar Sudi (Kapseret), Kimani Ichung’wa (Kikuyu) and Didmus Barasa (Kimilili MP) who are Ruto allies and have lately been linking Joho to the drugs trade.
Joho dared Ruto to face him one on one instead of sending the proxies to taint his reputation.
As reported by Standard, the Mombasa governor, through his lawyer wrote to International Police Organisation (Interpol) to seek clarification on whether he is part of the drug barons’ list as alleged by his attackers. “It is therefore in our client’s interest, the interests of all residents of the county of Mombasa and the nation as a whole that your office informs us on the authenticity or lack thereof of the statement,” read the statement.
While accompanying Irshad Sumra as he submitted his nomination papers to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission on Monday, Joho said, “I cannot engage in a war of words with those people because I know they have been sent by their master William Ruto”. “I dare you Ruto. Stop sending your sidekicks, come out and face me yourself,” he added.

The Mombasa governor threatened that he would seek legal redress against Ruto allies as he addressed the press at Mukuru kwa Njenga. The ODM deputy party leader was accompanied by by the party’s Secretary General Edwin Sifuna and Makadara MP George Aladwa.
Edwin Sifuna supported Joho by stating that they would set the ODM legal team against the governor’s attackers. “When we leave here, we are going to our lawyers so they can take legal action against those issuing these reckless statements,” Sifuna said.
