Gareth Bale is on the spotlight once again as the goal-drought intensifies. Santiago Solari has, however, backed the Welshman with hope that he will shine at Real Madrid despite rumors that a move from the club is likely. The club, or at least the club president – Fiorentina Perez, was convinced that Bale would be a seamless successor after Christiano Ronaldo left the club last summer. His season started well until his fitness broke down with a groin strain in October, ankle problem in December and the recent calf injury that resulted in the forward out for three weeks.

The Wale’s international is back after these fitness issues have put his career in constant pauses since he joined the Spanish giants. In the Real Madrid’s 3-0 recent win against Deportivo Alaves, Bale received a rather lackluster reception from the home fans with the team seen to be doing just well without him. A section of the crowd was heard booing him from the stands at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Since he joined the club after the dismissal of Julen Lopetagui, Santiago Solari has always backed the Welshman and shown absolute faith in him. “He is always in the spotlight. The spotlight waits for him. He looks connected, switched on, and we want him to perform like he knows how to, like he did at the Club World Cup, at Roma … he’s so important for us”, Solari supported the Welshman prior to the Alaves game.

A move back to the Premier League have been circulating for the former Totenham Hotspur star but his agent Jonathan Barnett termed them as “stupid lies stories”. Barnett further told Madridista Real that the forward has never expressed the intention to leave Real Madrid.

The Real Madrid fans are surely keen to see their star shine once more as they prepare to face their greatest rivals, Barcelona, within the next month and take on Ajax in the Champions League within the same period.
