Following recent revelations that NTSA officers are getting involved in unscrupulous and corrupt deals,word is that Interior CS is rumored to reconstruct the board a claim that members in the docket have distanced selves from.
The decision was arrived at in the wake of revelations that NTSA staff are engaging in corrupt practices that a threat to the country’s security.
On Friday, the CS convened a crisis meeting with the authority’s officials following the increased cases of fake car number plates.
According to detectives, brokers within NTSA act as links between criminal gangs and employees of the motor vehicle registry to facilitate the vice which has a number of the authority’s members in the court with cases to answer which floated after the recent terror attack.
“If someone in Nairobi wants a cloned number plate, the registrar will find a vehicle whose owner is located far from the city,” an investigator told local news room.
Further, the registrar will also ensure that the number plate of the car is not on the police radar.

In the month of January 2019, police impounded 26 vehicles with duplicate number plates.
The authority which has previously been under the Ministry of Transport was put under Matiang’i’s Interior docket by President Uhuru Kenyatta through an Executive Order with many seeing it as a matter that demands urgency to bring sobriety in under his care and oversight.
