As custom, every Muslim has to remove their shoes before they get to their place of worship. There are a few individuals who have made it their market place; they steal the shoes and resell them. As the saying goes a thief has forty days, a man was caught stealing shoes outside Sakina Mosque in Majengo, Mombasa county.
The man was caught in the act and a few testimonies of his actions accompanied him becasue it was not the first time he stole from that specific mosque. He confessed that the steals shoes then sell them cheaply, about Ksh 500 to a man called Felix.ย Felix will then resell them at the Ferry and Changamwe area.
Take a look at his reactions:

Just thinking out loud, It would be so interesting for one to buy their own shoes a couple of times, thinking your vender supplies that specific brand of shoe yet it was picked from the mosque.
This manโs punishment is what has brought aesthetic reaction in social media; he was told to eat about a hand full of raw red hot chilies as punishment. The agony of eating the chilies made the man vow never to steal from Sakina Mosque as well as other mosques.
This is how Kenyans on Twitter reacted:
“but a lesson has been learnt….. warning to future shoe thieves…. although there are people who eat pepper like sweets”saidย Caleb Mumbua
“walai huyu amewacha kuiba,”said Fred Makori
“bado hajaona kitu olewake ikifika wakati wa kuenda msalani,”said Tito
