How Google is planning to have a new look

Everyone with a Google account has received an email from the tech giant confirming that the Google+ feature will be no more from 2nd April, 2019. This comes as a shock to many but the tech giant has a solid explanation for this. In what google terms as  “low usage and challenges involved in maintaining a successful product that meets consumers”, the users will no longer be able to access their Google + pages, videos and photos stored in their Google + album. But don’t worry, your gmail account will still be working. What is no more is the Google + part that is usually used for social networks.

I personally can’t recall the last time I checked my Google + account. I rarely use it and as Google has said, low usage is one of the reasons they will be deleting the feature. A company need lean processes that will eliminate any wastage of financial resources and manpower and if you have an operation that is so costly to maintain and low in consumption by clients, it is just advisable to bring it down.

Google + couldn’t compete with other social networks like Twitter and Facebook when it comes to creating lively communities that gets people to actively use the feature. Facebook and Twitter had user friendly features that are easily adopted by users and that encourages growth in usage. Technology is always changing and for a feature to win, it ought to be easy to use and maintain at the same time.

WHAT WE SHALL MISS ABOUT GOOGLE +

I don’t know about you but for me nothing much. I will lose all the comments I made using Google +. Yeah, if you used Google + to make comments on sites like YouTube, the comments will be deleted when Google + becomes inactive. However, It is just an exercising of shedding of excess fat for Google. Nothing much is lost by the exit of Google +.
