Mauricio Pochettino Changes His Tune On Spurs Future Amid Man Utd Links

Mauricio Pochettino admits he cannot promise he will be at Tottenham next season amid speculation linking him with the Manchester United job.

The Argentine is currently second favourite to land the permanent manager’s job at Old Trafford behind current interim manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

The Spurs boss is understood to be a firm favourite of the United board as they look to find a permanent replacement for Jose Mourinho – who was sacked last month.

But Pochettino has fuelled speculation that he could be tempted after responding to a question asking him if he could promise he would be at the London club next season.

“I can’t promise that,” he said. “You know me very well, that from day one I always feel responsibility to give my best, but [my future] does not depend on me, it depends on the mood of my chairman, it depends on the decision of the company, it’s not only my decision to be here.”

The comments, which were said in the embargoed section of his pre- Watford press conference, contradicted comments he had made in the open section moments before.

“I am not going to complain, I am going to translate the reality, the fans want the reality. Then other people want to give their opinion from outside,” he said.

“I am a very positive person and I am going to try and deliver in my job. I am going to stick with the club until the end to help the club achieve all they want.”
