Empire Actor Jussie Smollet was yesterday attacked in Chicago in a suspected hate crime.
Reports indicate that the attack was by two assailants who yelled homophobic and racial slurs.
According to the police, the incident is being investigated as it is suspected to be ‘hate crime’
In a post shared by Empire Twitter handle, they stated that they were saddened and outraged to learn of the attack.
“We send our love to Jussie who is resilient and strong ,and we will work with the law enforcement to bring these perpetrators to justice” reads their post in part.
The entire studio, network and production also mentioned that they stand united even in the face of any despicable act of violence and hate.
The statement also indicated that such acts of hate will not be tolerated especially if it involves their own.
Top Celebrities have been on the frontline to condemn the act while others sent messages to console the actor.
