Arsenal legend David Seaman has blasted the club’s decision to pursue Dennis Suarez of Barcelona.
Suarez is expected to land in London with his loan move from Laliga set to be finished before the transfer window closes on Thursday.
Should Suarez completes his loan switch, he will be the first player the Gunners are signing in this window. Seaman feels that Arsenal’s priority should be strengthening their backline that has since been weakened by injuries suffered by Laurent Koscielny and Sokratis.
“We don’t need midfielders, we need defenders. We’ve got big injuries to quite a few of them already. We need good defenders coming in. Is he the type that we need? I don’t know what sort of player he is if I’m honest, but for me, we’re crying out for defenders. Everyone I speak to says ‘we’re great going forward but what’s happening in defence.” Seaman told The Daily Star.
Arsenal managed to see off Cardiff City at the Emirates to win the match 2-1 and keep their top four dreams alive. Manchester United’s 2-2 draw against Burnley at Old Trafford should have been a big boost for the London club since they are both in hot pursuit of a Champions League spot next season
