Heartless Landlord locks up pupils in school for 3 days over rent arrears

There was drama in Eton School, Mombasa County, after a parent protested the landlord’s decision to lock in 30 pupils over rent arrears.

It is alleged that the landlord had locked in the pupils for three days after the school failed to pay an outstanding rent of one month.

According to the parent, it was unfair for the landlord to lock up the kids since they were innocent. She insisted that the welfare of the kids was much more important than the supposed rent.

The parent urged the landlord to be a bit humane explaining that it was usual for rent to delay sometimes especially during the period after the festivities.

Furthermore, she claimed that she was prompted to go for her child after a guardian was sent away by the matron, who claimed the children would escape from the premises with their luggage boxes.

One observer also revealed that he saw some children jumping and peeping through the gates which were tightly locked using chains and a padlock.

The police who were already at the scene were seen standing discussing in low tones amongst themselves oblivious of what was happening.

Elsewhere, on social media, citizens expressed frustrations with the whole scenario, with some wondering why the police had not resolved the situation.

They argued that there were avenues for landlords to pursue such matters and that the rights of the children had been violated.
