Good For Liverpool: Adrien Rabiot Rejects Tottenham

Bad news for Tottenham. According to L’Equipe, French midfielder Adrien Rabiot has rejected the opportunity to join Tottenham this January.

Spurs, of course, were the only Premier League team who failed to sign a player last summer.

Will the Lillywhites go the whole season without adding to their squad?

Over the weekend Paris United revealed that Tottenham have offered Rabiot a 5 million euros signing bonus, plus a yearly salary of 7.5 million euros.

Paris United also claimed that Lucas Moura and Serge Aurier were trying to convince Rabiot to move to Spurs this month.

However L’Equipe now report that “PSG midfielder Adrien Rabiot rejected an offer from Tottenham”.

Good for Liverpool. Why has Rabiot said ‘no’ to Spurs?

L’Equipe fail to go into those details, however the assumption is that Rabiot is keen to join a more high profile team.

That assumption can be read into the final line in L’Equipe’s report:

FC Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Chelsea or Liverpool are in the line to welcome (Rabiot) this summer.

To be clear, 23-year-old Rabiot is set to become a free agent after his current deal at PSG expires at the end of the season.

So which club stands the best chance of signing Rabiot?

Liverpool may believe they have the upper hand following a note from Paris United.

They claimed that Rabiot was hesitant about joining Tottenham as the player thought that if he’d ever play in the Premier League it would be for Liverpool.
