Paris Saint-Germain superstar Kylian Mbappe has donated €30,000 to help fund a private search for missing footballer Emiliano Sala.
A Go Fund Page was set up by French sports agency Sport Cover to help find the former Nantes striker and pilot David Ibbotson, who went missing on a private plane travelling to new club Cardiff.
A statement on the GoFundMe page said: “The call for funds launched late Friday afternoon allowed the relatives of Emiliano Sala, via a specialised organisation, to resume research in the Channel early Saturday morning. Two boats conduct the operations.”
The response from the footballing world to the tragic events has been heart-warming, with a number of high-profile stars donating in order to fund the new search.
PSG’s Adrien Rabiot also donated a sum of €25,000, with the likes of Ilkay Gundogan, with Lionel Messi, Sergio Aguero and Diego Maradona pleading for the search to resume.
