Last year the Director of Public Prosecutions filed a motion to bar counsels James Orengo and Okong’o Omogeni from lawyering deputy Chief Justice Philomena Mwilu arguing there was a conflict of interest by the two.
Her trial was stopped after she challenged the charges at the High Court. The DCJ and lawyer Stanley Muluvi were to face 13 charges over monies allegedly received from the collapsed Imperial Bank.
Haji said Orengo – Siaya Senator, and Omogeni – Nyamira Senator, participated in a sitting of the Senate Committee on Justice, Legal Affairs and Human Rights where a petition against Queens Counsel Khawar Qureshi was raised.
Well Noordin Haji’s application to disqualify Orengo and Mogeni(SCs) from appearing for DCJ Mwilu has been dismissed.
DPP’s application to disqualify Orengo and Omogeni (SCs) from appearing for DCJ Mwilu dismissed. Application to bar Khawar Qureshi (QC) from acting for DPP also dismissed.
