There have been several fake adverts reportedly from Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS) circulating online and on social media. The adverts with funny contacts are asking people to apply for the position of enumerators for the 2019 census.
The government has advised Kenyans not to fall in the trap of cons because KNBS has not advertised such positions. Treasury CS Henry Rotich has advised Kenyans about the fake job offers.
“Let me caution the public against falling prey to fraudsters who have formed a syndicate to defraud Kenyans with promises of securing jobs in the forthcoming census,” Rotich said.
KNBS Director General has further revealed that the recruitment process for various positions will begin in June this year. KNBS plans to hire 164,000 people to work in various roles during the census.
The bureau will need about 135,000 enumerators, 27, 000 content supervisors and 2,700 ICT supervisors.
Rotich says the government does not require individuals to pay any money to be considered for employment.
“The Kenya National Bureau of Statistics and my Ministry have official websites and any official communication should only emanate from the two institutions,” he noted.
