Ruto’s “brothers” urge him to heed Uhuru’s calls and rally behind the handshake

Kanu Chairman Gideon Moi has asked politicians to support the Building Bridges initiative to ensure that the country achieves President Uhuru Kenyatta’s Big Four Agenda.

Gideon said the country needed development and all efforts should be geared to achieving it to alleviate the suffering of the common citizen.

The Baringo senator was speaking yesterday at Kipkok village in Soin/Sigowet constituency when he visited the home of former Myoot Council of Elders Chairman Joshua Kipsoi Chumo, who had invited him for prayers and blessings.

“The early presidential campaigns by some politicians is starting to sound like a broken record player. This is the time for development and we should all support the Building Bridges initiative that will see development being achieved in the country,” said Gideon.

He added that leaders should fight for leadership positions to help Kenyans and not for selfish gains.Gideon, who was accompanied by Tiaty MP William Kamket, Kanu Secretary General Nick Salat and former area MP Justice Kemei, thanked Kenyans for supporting the handshake between the President and ODM leader Raila Odinga.

“I thank Kenyans for supporting the handshake, whose fruits we are all seeing. We are all in support of it and those still opposing it should know they have no option but to be on the right side of history by supporting it,” he said.

Mr Salat told the Kalenjin community that contrary to Deputy President William Ruto’s optimism that he was assured of the presidency, it was false confidence.

“Do not be misled by someone who claims that everything is fine up there. Honestly speaking, it is not. If Ruto thinks that he will ascend to the presidency, he needs to rethink it. Sorry, man. We must tell each other the bitter truth. Things are not going to remain the same anymore,” he said.

Salat warned the Kalenjin to be careful not to be misled by a section of leadership on the 2022 vote for the presidency.“We must be careful lest we will find ourselves outside the Government.

We must not depend on only one person to deliver the presidency to us,” he said.Salat, at the same time, asked the community to embrace the calls for constitutional review.

“We must remember that in 2010, we voted against the Constitution. We must now identify the areas that pinch us and get ready for a referendum,” he said.Kamket told Mr Ruto to heed Uhuru’s calls and stop early presidential campaigns.
