NTSA issue fresh guidelines to Smart Driving License Applicants

 

The National Transport and Safety Authority have issued fresh requirements/ guidelines to Smart DL applicants.

The Authorities have highlighted that there  is a need to book an appointment for issuance of the Driving License through the individuals TIMS  account.

These requirements will be effective from the 24 th of January 2019. NTSA also cautioned applicants not to share their passwords and codes with any unauthorized persons.

The National Transport and Safety Authority(NTSA) launched smart driving licenses in a bid to curb traffic offences and pull out rogue drivers from the Kenyan roads without legitimate licenses.

The new driving licenses are also  fitted with electronic chips that contain key details of a driver.

Quoting the Bizna reports, The new generation e-driving licence is loaded with points that get deducted every time a motorist commits a traffic offence. Any licence that is emptied of points is ultimately withdrawn from use.

The  smart DL costs 3050 Kenyan shillings valid for 3 years.
