Lukaku appears to hit out at speculation over Man Utd future

Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku has seemingly hit out at speculation over his future at Old Trafford.

Lukaku has found his opportunities in the United first team limited since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer became temporary boss, starting just one of the Norwegian’s seven games in charge.

The Belgian striker arrived at Old Trafford in a £75million deal 18 months ago but despite scoring 16 Premier League goals in his first season, has faced questions over whether he fits the club’s style.

Last month Lukaku was linked with a move to Juventus amid reports Solskjaer has told Marcus Rashford he is his preferred option up front.

But the Belgian appeared to hit out at those reports with a social media post on Sunday.

“When the hate don’t work they start telling lies,” Lukaku wrote in an Instagram story.

Lukaku came off the bench for a seven-minute cameo during United’s 2-1 win over Brighton at Old Trafford on Saturday.

Despite his lack of game time, the 25-year-old has scored three goals under Solskjaer, including one in the FA Cup third round in over Reading earlier this month.

And he may well get another chance to impress as United visit Arsenal in the fourth round on Friday night.
