Liverpool striker set to replace Harry Kane

Liverpool striker Divock Origi is set to temporary replace  injured  Tottenham  player Harry Kane.

Kane is not scheduled to return to training until early March after suffering ankle ligament damage towards the end of a 1-0 defeat to Manchester United last weekend.

With Son Heung-Min also away on Asian Cup duty with South Korea, Origi, who has 18 months left on his contract, is reportedly viewed as an affordable attacking addition by Spurs.

The likelihood of Liverpool allowing one of their squad players to join a title rival seems highly unlikely especially after they allowed Dominic Solanke to recently join Bournemouth.

The 23-year-old Belgian is also being linked with moves to West Ham, Bournemouth and Cardiff.

Origi has only played once for Liverpool this season, and has fallen down the pecking order at the Merseyside club.

He has scored 21 goals in 78 appearances for Liverpool after joining them in a £10m move from Lille in 2014.

Since arriving at Anfield, he has had loan spells back at Lille and at Wolfsburg.
