Since the deadly attack at the Dusit D2 on Tuesday 15th much has come out following that one of the main terrorist was from Majengo slum in Nyeri county.

According to revelations from the residents the area is densely populated with a lot of poverty,   people are readily available and easily manipulated by politicians and activists as criminals and demonstrators for hire.

According to one of the residents who sought anonymity said, “With only Sh200 per person per day, you can easily get demonstrators for hire here as there are so many idlers.”

Nyeri residents also claim that  residential houses at Majengo are cheap  and made of low-quality hence the renting  fee going to as little as Sh500 per month.

Reports of  radicalisation have also been highlighted by many with people suspecting could also be happening as residents are very discrete on anything that goes on there.

In May last year, Nyeri police apparently  arrested terrorism suspect believed to have sneaked into the country from Somalia and heightened security surveillance in Nyeri following reports that Nyeri could be a target of terror which has led to detectives to keep on tracking the suspects move for any leads that could give more information.

Nyeri town MP Ngunjiri Wambugu has now come out saying that the news of the suspects spending time in the area, came as a surprise to him and it was something that was never to be suspected.
