Black January! Horror as Six More Kenyans Perish in Nakuru

Six killed, 8 injured in Nakuru-Nyahururu Road accident

January 2019 will go down as a very dark month in Kenya’s history. This is because the country has lost 20 people and many more injured in less than 24 hours.

On Tuesday, Terrorists forced their way into Desut D2 Hotel and started shooting innocent civilians haphazardly. Even though security forces managed to neutralize the attackers, they had killed 14 people and injured several.

But even before we could deal with the aftermath, six more people died in Nakuru on Wednesday  and eight others injured after a 14-seater matatu collided with a lorry at Ndudori area on the Nakuru-Nyahururu Road.

According to eye witnesses, the matatu and truck, which were moving in opposite directions, collided at a sharp bend with a steep descent. As the two vehicles were moving past each other, the lorry hit the matatu on the driver’s side causing it to veer off the road.

The injured were rushed to the Nakuru Level 5 Hospital while the bodies were moved to the mortuary at the same health facility.

It has been a very dark 24 hours for Kenyans. But we know we are greater than this and we shall overcome.

Our thought and prayers are with the families of the victims.
