NCIC issues stern warning to Kenyans over inciteful utterances

Kenyans have been warned for sharing utterances that are inciteful on social media platforms and to the public.

This warning comes after the recent incident of a tweet that triggered the action of the police and the National Cohesion and Integration commission.

In a tweet by one Dennis Kiptoo, which was  his reaction towards the current political events, the NCIC raised concern and initiated investigations leading to his arrest.

There are several instances where Kenyans  seemingly take things lightly and share  content that could clearly land them in trouble.

The level of ignorance is becoming difficult to be tolerated. The NCIC in their statement believe that it appears as if  a season of inciteful statements is being ushered in.

They therefore sent a strong warning to people and especially those who want to provide input to the political debates currently ongoing.

“It should be noted that freedom of expression has certain limitations as provided for under Article 33 of the Constitution and there are severe consequences for crossing the red line. according to legislation such as the NCI Act and the penal code.” reads statement in part

NCIC has advised Kenyans to be patriotic and focus on building the national identity and values.
